CHESTER LAND TRUST

Website  ~  Kiosk Plaque

Plaque honors Judge Constance Baker Motley, J.D. (1921-2005), the first African-American woman appointed to the Supreme Court of the State of New York. She and her husband purchased land near Chester’s Cedar Lake and vacationed there for more than 40 years. The Land Trust acquired the property in 2018. The plaque includes images of her with Coretta Scott and Martin Luther King, Jr.

SWEENEY LAW FIRM

Mike retained my services to clean up his firm’s existing site (below) and build a new one. At left, a concept for a print ad that originated while building a new landing page during the staging phase.

Jeffery Cissell is a forensic engineer. Jeff answers the questions “Why?” and “What can be done about it?” when a building or product suffers a failure or when a person slips and is injured, He is hired by attorneys, insurance adjusters and property managers to provide expert engineering testimony that “survives legal scrutiny.”

His website was dated and the content repetitious. As a first stage in redesigning his entire site, I edited down the content and rebuilt his home page with strong images and concise wording. His “rapid response” guarantee – providing a report within 3-days – was isolated and emphasized.

To interest Jeff further, I built a landing page for a mobile device.  Very basic, yet functionally intuitive, the prototype scrolls and a “hamburger” graphic triggers a menu to slide in from the left.

Nick Santoro has been sculpting stones for over 40 years. His sculptures evoke a Stone Age past and a fascination with the organic and earth-bound. The years of hard labor shaping the hardest of material has taken its toll on his body, he looks now to put down the hammer and chisel, and mentor, passing on his creative spirit to the citizens of Rutland, Vermont.

As a young man, he suffered bouts of depression being raised in a family burdened with a tragic history of loss and guilt, but the joy and reward of sculpting stone lifted him from its depths. His goal now is to lift the spirit of Rutland … to find solace, meaning and enterprise … in hammering, chiseling, scraping and smoothing the very rock that was once the city’s source of economic prosperity.

Partnering with the Kiwanis, Nick will direct a studio in the heart of the city and welcome the curious – free of charge – into an inviting space to beat on marble mined in the West Rutland quarry … a portal to discover a rich local heritage and the limitless possibilities of the creative spirit.

“Having no prior backpacking experience, I bought a backpack and a plane ticket to Georgia. Three weeks later I was hiking back towards New England, my home. The journey was rigorous and dangerous, and it took a heavy toll on my body, but as I lay in my hammock exhausted from yet another day of brutal climbs and steep descents, I was determined to make it all the way … or at least to Day 3.”

In 2015, Sam Ducharme (or his trail name “Sam I Am”), a retired K9 prison guard, walked the world’s longest hiking-only trail … 2,189.2 miles from Georgia to Maine. Sam did it in one go – over six-months – and earned the well-respected title of “Thru-Hiker.”

I heard Sam give his “Thru-Hiker Talk” at my local library – a talk he gives in libraries and community centers all around New England. His presentation – with photos and video taken entirely with this phone – was both laugh-out-loud funny and heartwarming. I contacted Sam to see if I could help get his story published. The timing was perfect for he did indeed need help. I sent him a proposal which included a proofread of his manuscript, and designing and producing a book for self-publishing.

Despite setbacks, Sam self-published his great adventure in November 2018 and it’s now available in both paperback and e-book:

Honoring Jordan B Peterson

Young Americans for Liberty at Linfield College, McMinnville, Oregon, invited Dr. Peterson to speak on campus. Shortly before the event the administration revoked the invitation because he threatened “safe spaces.”

He gave the now famous Linfield College Speech off campus on 24 April 2017.

Dr. Peterson is on the front lines against the mad, hate-filled denizens of the cultural & political swamp. These arbiters of “truth, reason and justice” suffer the very psychosis of those they accuse. As a clinical psychologist, he treats the madness with compassion and tough love.
